Tim Rollins

As I was scrolling through the syllabus I came across the images of a bunch of black stripes that I thought looked pretty cool with pages from a book in the background. So I decided to click the artist who created that and discovered it was Tim Rollins. Tim Rollins was a teacher who works in a middle school in the South Bronx. In 1984 he created the “art and knowledge workshop” with at-risk students. Together they call them selves K.O.S. (Kids Of Survival). They produce paintings sculptures and drawings have all different types of symbolic meaning. The piece of artwork that caught my eye was the most was called “A Midsummers Night’s Dream” and I just love how it looks. They made it watercolor and acrylic and India ink. I just love how all of the colors flow together and it looks chaotic but each individual piece of color looks extremely cool on its own. Some of the watercolor areas look like the sky, some look like space, some white crystals, some look like suns, there are really too many beautiful watercolor markings to look at. I think I like this piece a lot because one of my favorite artists is Jackson Pollock. He has those paintings that look like splatter and for some reason I just love how it looks, I actually went and saw some of his original paintings in Washington DC over the summer.
